STEM- Mechanical Hand

In September the First Class were learning about themselves, the 5 senses and their bodies. As part of STEM the students made mechanical hands using card, straws, wool and sellotape. The aim was to make the fingers of the hands move. Thanks to 4th class for giving us some help on the trickier parts. This was a really fun activity for all.

Hands on Maths 📐

Using hands on resources are a really important part of maths. They help us link maths problems to real life while also broadening our minds to find new ways to solve problems. By using manipulatives such as blocks, matchsticks, cubes, lollipop sticks or drawing on whiteboards, it helps us visualise problems that sometimes are hard to understand!

Ardrahan Mausoleum Trip 📸

Friday was such a fantastic day that the students took a little trip down to the Mausoleum in Ardrahan. Firstly, this involved a little walk in the nice weather 🚶‍♀️☀️ When at the mausoleum the students looked at the different architecture and learned about its history.  It is great for the children to learn about their local history as well as history on a wider scale.

Project Work 🇮🇪

Third Class got the year off to a start with some project work. The students worked in pairs to create a project based on a famous landmark in Ireland. The students first researched the landmark, then selected points they wanted to focus on and wrote about it in a presentation style. The students then selected photos that suited their project and added them to the presentation. Great work by all the students!
