Science Week ๐Ÿงช

The students in 3rd class got hands on this Science Week.  It was  a great opportunity to integrate science into many other subjects. For example, in history we learned the history of science and inventors. We also read about the transition of transport ‘From horses to horsepower’ ๐ŸŽ and inventors such as Marie Curie.  Having learned about the history of transport, we then imagined what the future of transport will look like. All students created excellent futuristic cars ๐Ÿš— . Well done to all!  In Art we experimented with colours, mixing primary colours to create new colours and shades. ๐Ÿ”ต๐ŸŸก๐Ÿ”ด We also created a lava lamp as part of a science experiment.  What you need: water, jar, vegetable oil, food colouring, steradent (or other fizzy tablet)!

Rugby Training ๐Ÿ‰

With Rugby fresh in all our minds after this years Rugby World Cup, the students were keen to begin their rugby training ๐Ÿ‰ The students of 3rd & 4th class had their first training session today and got off to a great start. It’s super to see students trying out new sports and finding new interests! Thanks to all at Gort & Connacht Rugby for this lovely experience!

Hands on Maths ๐Ÿ“

Using hands on resources are a really important part of maths. They help us link maths problems to real life while also broadening our minds to find new ways to solve problems. By using manipulatives such as blocks, matchsticks, cubes, lollipop sticks or drawing on whiteboards, it helps us visualise problems that sometimes are hard to understand!
