Careers Week- Dental Hygienist 🦷

To celebrate careers week, third class invited visitors from a variety of career backgrounds. Our second visitor, Elaine, is a dental hygienist.

Elaine told us about what her role is as a dental hygienist and what type of things she’s looking out for in people’s teeth. She taught us what to do and what not to do to keep our teeth healthy. Big thanks to Elaine for visiting 3rd class.

Art- Salmon of Knowledge 🐟

When learning about the famous landmarks of Ireland, we came across many myths and legends attached to them. The students particularly enjoyed the myth of the Giants Causeway and the Salmon of Knowledge. In art, the students created their own Salmon of Knowledge! 🐟 First, the students painted on bubble wrap and printed it onto the card. This created a water effect. The students then designed the fish and used other materials to add more detail to their work.

Ardrahan Mausoleum Trip πŸ“Έ

Friday was such a fantastic day that the students took a little trip down to the Mausoleum in Ardrahan. Firstly, this involved a little walk in the nice weather 🚢‍♀️☀️ When at the mausoleum the students looked at the different architecture and learned about its history.  It is great for the children to learn about their local history as well as history on a wider scale.

Hands on Maths πŸ“

By using manipulatives such as blocks, matchsticks, cubes, lollipop sticks or drawing on whiteboards, it helps us visualise problems that sometimes are hard to understand!
