Aistear- Autumn

Autumn Aistear was full of fun and exploration.

We used our Autumn checklists to check off things we found and used the tuff tray to design an Autumn tree.

The Senior Infants produced many other creative things such as nature parks (at the Lego station) along with Autumn wands, birds and nests at the art station.

Using the pegboards we created leaves, trees and lots of different patterns. This aims to improve fine motor skills. Finally, at the sensory station the students enjoyed playing with the sand box which was full of Autumn items.

Hands on Maths 📐

Using hands on resources are a really important part of maths. They help us link maths problems to real life while also broadening our minds to find new ways to solve problems. By using manipulatives such as blocks, matchsticks, cubes, lollipop sticks or drawing on whiteboards, it helps us visualise problems that sometimes are hard to understand!

Art- Pointillism

For the past for weeks we have been learning about the Supermarket in Aistear. We decided to link this with art and created wonderful pieces of fruit only using cotton buds and paint.  All the students did a fantastic job! This was new way to try out painting and art for the students.

Ardrahan Mausoleum Trip 📸

Friday was such a fantastic day that the students took a little trip down to the Mausoleum in Ardrahan. Firstly, this involved a little walk in the nice weather 🚶‍♀️☀️ When at the mausoleum the students looked at the different architecture and learned about its history.  It is great for the children to learn about their local history as well as history on a wider scale.
