Aistear- All About Me

Aistear in September linked to our over all theme- All About Me.

We explored this in a variety of ways and many interesting creations were caught on camera!

Some of the things spotted throughout the month included; our favourite restaurants, lots of favourite foods, our names, our houses, our town/village, our jobs, our pets and many many more.

This linked nicely with Gaeilge which focused on 'Mรฉ Fรฉin' and S.E.S.E. which focused on many elements of our lives including; our families, our community, our school and our senses (pictured below).

We look forward to October when we will be exploring Autumn and Halloween!

Art- Salmon of Knowledge ๐ŸŸ

When learning about the famous landmarks of Ireland, we came across many myths and legends attached to them. The students particularly enjoyed the myth of the Giants Causeway and the Salmon of Knowledge. In art, the students created their own Salmon of Knowledge! ๐ŸŸ First, the students painted on bubble wrap and printed it onto the card. This created a water effect. The students then designed the fish and used other materials to add more detail to their work.

Ardrahan Mausoleum Trip ๐Ÿ“ธ

Friday was such a fantastic day that the students took a little trip down to the Mausoleum in Ardrahan. Firstly, this involved a little walk in the nice weather ๐Ÿšถ‍♀️☀️ When at the mausoleum the students looked at the different architecture and learned about its history.  It is great for the children to learn about their local history as well as history on a wider scale.

Hands on Maths ๐Ÿ“

Using hands on resources are a really important part of maths. They help us link maths problems to real life while also broadening our minds to find new ways to solve problems. By using manipulatives such as blocks, matchsticks, cubes, lollipop sticks or drawing on whiteboards, it helps us visualise problems that sometimes are hard to understand!
